Christine Albina Batla, 84, of Taylor died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Johns Community Hospital. Family visitation will be 6-7 PM, Monday March 25, 2002 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Taylor Brethren Church with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Christine was born June 30, 1917 in Abbott, TX. to Andrew and Albina (Hejl) Turek . She was married to Richard Batla on August 26, 1941 at the Granger Brethren Church, a marriage that would last 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that loved sewing, cooking, canning, gardening and most of all playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christine worked for many years as a seamstress for Taylor Bedding. She was also a member of the Taylor Brethren Church, Christian Sisters of the Church, and the S.P.J.S.T. Her survivors include her husband of 60 years; Richard Batla of Taylor; one daughter, Jeanette Sutherland and husband, Richard of Taylor; two grandchildren, Bill Pfeiffer Jr. and wife, Ronda of Lincoln and Christie Sutherland of Taylor; two step grandsons, Rick Sutherland and partner, Mary Esther Middleton and Joe Sutherland and wife Katrina both of Austin; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Pfeiffer and Blake Carter of Lincoln, Cooper Sutherland, Ian Sutherland, and Shea Sutherland all of Austin; one sister, Elfie Stauffer and husband, Harry; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Machalek of Temple and Louise Batla of Taylor, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother and one brother, Edwin Turek. Pallbearers will be Bill Pfeiffer Jr., Jerry Turek, Sidney Kubala, Bobby Wuensche, Joe Sutherland, and Rick Sutherland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church, P.O.
