Absalom Swift was most likely born in Guilford County, North Carolina in 1780. By 1811 he shows up in Barren County, Kentucky and by 1814 he's in Tennessee. Absalom was a soldier in the War of 1812, serving with two different units from Middle Tennessee. He was said to have served at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. Years later (1855) he received a Bounty Land Warrant (#4511) for 80 acres, based on his U.S. Military service. He also applied for a U.S. Military Pension, dated May 2, 1871, in Dickson Co., TN.
