Bio
Johnye Eleanor Douthit, 93, of Palestine was born to Leo Fredrick King and Eleanor Hearn King. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1943, at the age of 16. She worked as a bookkeeper and as a library aide for Palestine High School for many years. She enjoyed reading; was a talented seamstress and took pleasure in quilting. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Valton West (1967) and Leland Douthit (2016); daughter, Milliene Barr; sister, Luna Leggit; brothers, Leo F. King, Jr., Bill Askew and Jim Meese and two great grandsons. Mrs. Douthit is survived by her daughter, Lillie Broughton (Mike) of Grapeland; step children, Charles Douthit, Pat Douthit Green, Betty Wortham and Marsha Snow Sanchez; grandchildren, Larry Pelham and Lillene Crum; eleven step grandchildren and numerous other extended family. Graveside services will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas with Rev. Bill Rodgers officiating. (Rhone Funeral Home 10/28/2019)
