Bio

This is simply to document his marriage to Clyde Spraggins: Clyde Spraggins Rogers said on the 1930 census that she was 18 when first married and that would have been to Frank Rogers in about 1925. Following Frank's death in 1934, she married Helidora (Hallie) Kovar (#20351544) and is enumerated with him and his mother, Annie Kovar, in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas, on April 8, 1940. When Helidora died on February 13, 1947, his wife was not listed among the survivors in his obituary. Only his mother; his brother, Harry Kovar; and a sister, Mrs. C. L. Youngblood were listed as survivors. This can indicate that the couple were no longer together for whatever reason, but usually means divorce. Helidora died from delirium tremens. Clyde next married Paris E. Murry in Arkansas on May 23, 1950, and her place of residence was Little Rock. She married as Clyde Kovar. Paris did not die until 1979 (#63970420), but Clyde next married Richard M. Leahey (died January 23, 1988) on March 18, 1959 in San Francisco County, California as Clyde Spraggins. Finally she married Lloyd R. Swonger on November 8, 1969 in Reno, Nevada, as Clyde S. Kovar. The informant for her death certificate was her son, Edward Rogers, not her husband Lloyd Swonger. Lloyd is buried in Englewood Cemetery, Englewood, California (#78664526). (CONTRIBUTED BY JOE DAVID ON AUGUST 14, 2017) HELIDORA KOVAR Funeral service for Helidora Kovar, 25, will be held this Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Gilstrap Funeral Home with the Rev. R. H. Boyd, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor City Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the American Legion Post. Mr. Kovar passed away Thursdsay at 8:10 p.m. in the Veterans hospoital at Waco, following a short illness. The deceased was born near Taylor July 4, 1911, and lived here all of his life. He was in the cafe business with his brother until October, 1942, when he entered the U. S. Navy, serving in the Pacific until his discharge November, 1945, at which time he returned to the cafe business. He is a graduate of the Taylor high school. And was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Annie Kovar and one brother, Harry Kovar; both of Taylor, and one sister, Mrs. C. L. Youngblood of Alberquerque, New Mexico.
