Partial remains scattered on California coastline north of San Francisco, the remaining small amount on the gravesite of her mother, Eva Frances Karges Kresha, in the Saint Andrews #2 cemetery in rural Polk County, Nebraska.
Rita was born to Adolf Franz Kresha and Eva Frances Karges and was the youngest of 21 children born to Adolf. She went to school in Osceola, Lincoln, and Illinois to become a Registered Certified Nurse Anesthetist. She practice in Arizona and California. She was also an activist in promoting gay rights and is one of the first Californians to officially get married, to her sweetheart, Susan Steele Vanderburgh in 2013. They were together for 35 years+. Most of her cremains and those of Susan Vanderburgh were scattered at nearby Point Reyes State Park on the coastline north of San Francisco California, a place that was special to them. A small portion of the cremains were interred in Saint Andrews #2 Cemetery, Polk County, Nebraska, at the intersection of 137th and R Roads out in the countryside.
