MRS. ELIZA KORTMAN PASSES AWAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mrs. Eliza Kortman who made her home in Crete and in the West Blue Community for nearly sixty years passed away on Friday Funeral services were held on Monday, October 14 1929 at 1:30 at the home in Crete and 2:30 at the West Blue Friedens church under the charge of Rev. Carl E. Gabler Pastor assisted by the Rev. E. Schatz of Crete Nebraska. Interment in West Blue Cemetery. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - OBITUARY Mrs. Eliza Kortman, nee Ahlvers was born Sseptember 4, 1851 at Fahrberg, Hanover, Germany. In 1868 she came to America, residing at Peoria, Illinois where she work (sic) for one year. In 1870 she came to Crete Nebraska, later moving to a farm at West Blue. In 1913 she moved back to Crete, she made her home until her death. October 6, she was taken to Lincoln Nebraska where she underwent an operation from which she did not recover passing away on Friday, October 11, 1929 at 1:15 a.m. The following remain to mourn her loss: 5 children, Mrs. B. Welsch of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Louise Danekas of Milford, Nebraska, Mrs. Fred Feeken of Crete, Nebraska, Mr. William Kortman and Mr. Geo. Kortman of Dorchester Nebraska. 12 grand children and 4 great grand children and a large number of friends. Published in the Milford Review dated Thursday, October 17, 1929, page 3, column 4.
