MOORE Horton, James Larry: 75, acoustical ceiling sub contractor, died Sept. 20. Memorial services 2 p.m. Tuesday (Moore F.H., Moore). Published in The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Thursday, Sept 26, 2019, Page A5. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ James "Larry" Horton, 75, Moore OK, passed away September 20th, 2019 in his home. Born August 3rd, 1944 in Oklahoma City to the late James Franklin Horton and Gerona Mae Marvel. He graduated from Moore High School in 1962. Larry provided for his family in a long successful career in construction. He was known for being one of the fastest ceiling hands in the industry. He once installed 5000 square feet of ceiling grid by lunch, just because they said it couldn't be done in a day. In Larry's youth and shortly up until his passing he thoroughly enjoyed the game of pool. He had an adventurous time supporting himself for multiple years playing the game on the road. The story goes that he once won a certain amount of money from a gentleman from a small town outside Carson City. The next morning Larry was pulled over by a patrolman by crossing a double yellow line and surprisingly was immediately taken before the judge. When Larry walked into the court room he shrugged as he noticed the man from the night before. Larry was not surprised though when this man, the judge, ordered him to pay a fine equal to his previous night's winnings. However to those who knew him best, his passion for studying the word of God and teaching the gospel of Grace is what he will be greatly missed and remembered for. Romans 1:16-17 could not be more fitting to describe our dear saint in Christ: For I am not ashamed the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone that believeth;, for the Jew first and also the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written The just shall live by faith. Larry was a great example of one who lived by faith. Larry married Linda Elizabeth Klaassen November 23rd, 1973. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years; sons, John Horton and Levi Horton, daughters Faithann Basore and Joy Montoya; son-in-laws Dave Basore and Daniel Montoya; daughter-in-law Jackie Horton; granddaughters Kimera Gonzalez, Emry Hyatt, Mandolin Montoya, Samantha Montoya, Sarah Basore, and Maria Montoya; grandsons Joshua Basore, Caleb Basore, Jake Horton, and Jesse Horton; great grandsons Miles Basore and Kaden Hyatt; brothers Gary Horton, Mike Horton, Jack Eaves, John Eaves; sister Deena Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kimera Graves. Memorial Service to honor Larry's life is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., October 1, 2019 in the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 S.E. 19th, Moore, Oklahoma.
