Bio

Robert (Bob) Olin Johnson, age 67, passed away on August 7, 2019, at his daughter’s residence in Waco, Texas with his family by his side. Bob was born in Houston, Texas on February 1, 1952 and was the son of James (Jimmie) Arthur Johnson and Francis Eloise Gassett Johnson. He grew up in the rice fields of Katy, graduated from Katy High School in 1970 and spent most of his life living in the great community he called home. The loves of Bob’s life were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife Jodi of 40 wonderful years, his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Next in line would be his passion and love for fishing. There was nothing better than fishing with his children, grandchildren and those he loved most. He loved spending quality time at his place in Sargent where family and friends gathered making many special memories and good times. Bob knew how to enjoy the moment and value the gift of time. He will be remembered for his great cooking and the joyful laugh that came alongside his humor and clever wit. He loved his family and was a devoted Husband, Dad, Poppa, and Uncle. Bob was a Christian who cherished his faith and woke up every morning ready to “walk the walk”. He was always there for anyone in need, and his quiet and selfless acts of helping others were always done with a humble heart. He was loved by many. Bob was a builder by trade and master and teacher of woodworking. Many of his family and friends turned to him for his expertise and gift in figuring out how something worked or how to make it work. He was raised farming rice and then went on to be a cabinet builder and homebuilder. He then ended his career as a supervisor with B5 Construction in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife Jodi Johnson of Katy; daughter Sara Johnson of Waco and her son Larz Johnson; daughter Cory Johnson Feil and husband F Scott Feil of Waco, along with their children Addie and Emerson Feil; his brothers, Bear (Donna) Johnson of Boling, Texas and Charles (Terri) Johnson of Lexington, Texas. He also leaves behind many special friends and relatives, especially one whom he adored, Mary Kay (Jerry) Falkner of Bellville, Texas. In lieu of flowers and donations, Bob’s request would be to please take a child fishing and enjoy the moment. Schmidt Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
