Bio

Son of Jesse Arnett & Martha Robertson William Peter served in Company A, 2nd Battalion Hilliard's Legion, Confederate States of America/AKA Company F 59th Alabama Infantry Confederate States of America. Obituary Info from wvgw.net Biography Lineville Headlight W. P. Arnett, Son of Jesse and Margaret Arnett, was born in Anson County N. C. Jan. 31 1833 and came with his father and family to Chambers County Ala. in 1845. On the 23rd day of Nov. 1852 he was married to Elizabeth Hardige, and 10 children were born to this couple. In 1855 he joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Bethel in Chambers County. In the year 1862 he volunteered his services and joined the Confederate army in company 47th Ala. regiment and served in said company regiment until he was wounded in May 1864 and was allowed a furlough and returned home May 31st, 1864. In the same year, he joined the Masonic fraternity at Roanoke, Ala., and remained a Consistent member until his death. In the year 1870 he moved with his family from Chamber County to Clay County, one mile north of Lineville where he lived with his family until 1911. On April 14th, 1894, Mrs. W. P. Arnett his first wife died, and on Feb. 7th, 1895, he was again married to Mrs. Emma Alice Holland and lived a very happy life with her until his death which occurred on the 12th day of March 1913 at his home in the town of Lineville. His age was 80 yrs. 1 month and 12 days. As long as his health would permit Brother Arnett was true to his lodge, and we have sustained a severe loss as an organization and as individual members in the passing away of Brother Arnett...............
