He was the 3 x great-grandson of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone. On September 12, 1918 Roy married Edna Violet Richardson in Pleasant Grove, Greenwood County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Winslow Jason Richardson and Sarah Eleanor Wimer Richardson.
