Obituary for Ivan John Hoefer Ivan John Hoefer of Naturita and Grand Junction, Colorado was born on February 7, 1937 in Stratton, Colorado and passed on September 13, 2017, at the age of 80. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Debbie (Darrel) Culver, Robert D. (Catherine) Hoefer, and Brad Hoefer, his grandchildren, Jesse (Morgan Gabbert) Culver, Jennifer (Keppen) Laszlo, Derrick Culver, Lindsey Culver, Robert W. Hoefer, Amy (Louis) Pick, Ashley Hoefer, Alyssa (Eric) Herauf, Katie Swadener, Layne Hoefer, his great grandchildren, Jay Laszlo, Karson Laszlo, Jordan Culver, Maci Culver, his siblings and their spouses, Eileen Vacher, Betty (Mark) Klocker, Leo (Karen Titus) Hoefer, Leonard Hoefer, Linda (Leo) Isenbart, Donald Hoefer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Hoefer, father, Arthur Hoefer, mother, Lillian Weingardt, and brother in law, Pat Vacher. Ivan was a man of faith and took great pride in living in ‘God’s Country’. He spent his school age years in Stratton and Golden, Colorado and after living in various locations, he spent his later years in Grand Junction and Naturita, Colorado. He lived his life herding sheep, working long hours on a ranch in North Dakota, as a plumber, he cultivated a produce farm and apple orchard to provide fresh produce across Colorado, and in later years, operated an RV park and mobile home park. His life was full of fun hobbies including collecting classic cars, elk hunting, fishing, country music, and boating. He was an avid Broncos fan and spent his last evening wearing a Broncos shirt to show his support. Ivan brought family and friends together through planning annual Barn Dances where everyone could enjoy dancing, karaoke, live music, homemade Mexican food, and a fun time together. He was fondly referred to as “Gramps” and “Big Gramps” by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ivan loved to share his wisdom with everyone who would like to hear it. His favorite saying was “Do your best and let God do the rest”. As he would always say, “See you in the next chapter!” Visitation will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch. Both visitation and funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 969 Ulysses Street in Golden. Casket interment will also be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 1:30p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 12801 West 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge.
