Bio

Daughter of George Frederick Andrew and Mary Jane Ruble of Overton Co., Tennessee. She Married: 1) 8 December 1870, Levi A Gentry (drowned) 2) about 1887, William Caroll Cowen, (He died 18 August 1936, buried in Linn, Marshall Co., Oklahoma) (Contributor: unknown) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The above account states that Levi A. Gentry "drowned". Recent DNA evidence shows that he was Levi Alan Gentry, who appears to have left his marriage to Sarah Leann (Andrew), and in 1883, he married Verlidia (Smith) Bonnard Felps. Sarah possibly told their daughter that her father had "drowned". Perhaps she found that easier than explaining what had actually happened. Levi Alan Gentry lived to be 85 years of age, and died of dementia in Sulphur, Murray Co., Oklahoma on 12 May 1936. (Contributor: Harlon, 26 July 2020)
