Bio

Lola Bernadine Sickels, 91, of Waconia, Minnesota, went to her Heavenly home on August 28, 2019, surrounded by her family. Lola was born February 7, 1928, in Sweetwater, Nebraska, the daughter of Goldie and Matthew Young. She was the oldest of 3 siblings. On April 9, 1945, she married Dale Lloyd Sickels. She graduated from Litchfield High School, Litchfield, Nebraska, Class of 1945 and attended Teacher’s College. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse. After marrying, she raised her family then worked in property management with her husband in California and Arizona, and later in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Lola loved Jesus dearly and had a very strong faith in Him. Lola is survived by her daughters Dalene Woods of Waconia, MN, and Cheryl Chapman of Buffalo, MN, and sons and daughter-in-law: Michael Sickels of Verndale, MN, and Terry and Della Sickels of Monticello, MN, and grandchildren Jamie and Joe Otremba of Waconia, Karl and Mandy Bitschenauer of Waconia, Michelle and Travis Bergquist of Bertha, MN, Mike and Jenny (Ludovissie) Chapman of Moundsview, MN, Chris and Jenny (Line) Chapman of Buffalo, MN, Jennifer Chapman of Elk River, MN, Scott Sickels of Staples, MN, Tabitha Sickels of Wadena, MN, Wendy and Pete Fynboh of St. Charles, MN, Lisa and Lucien Forrette of Minneapolis, MN, Dale and Candy Sickels of OK, Danyelle and Terence Sun of WI, Richard and Janelle Sickels of Duluth , MN, Samantha Nemeth of Otsego, MN, Jeremy and Lauren Nemeth of Becker, MN, 33 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sickels was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Sickels, sister and brother-in -law Mabel and Ross Kieborz of Litchfield, NE, and her brother, Richard Young of Lincoln, NE. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 3:00 at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, MN with Chaplain Helmer Heckel officiating. Gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.
