Waurika News-Democrat - 15 Mar 1940 - 4 Friday J. W. Pistole passed away at his home here Waurika, early Friday morning, March 8th, at the age of 81. He had been in failing health for some months, but had been confined to his bed only about 10 days. He was born at Centerville, Texas, in 1859, and came to this section in an early day. He was married to Mollie Morgan, May 8, 1909, and she, with their four children, Charles, San Francisco, California, Pistole, Oklahoma City, James Pistole, a student at Northwestern Teachers college, Weatherford, and Miss Cloma Pistole, Conroe, Texas, survive; also two step-daughters, who loved him as his own children. They are Mrs. Maude Crenshaw, Conroe, Texas, and Mrs. Jimmie Walker of Geary, all of whom were at his bedside at passing except Charles of California who visited him Christmas. J. W. or "Dad" Pistole, as he was affectionately called by his many friends, came to Ringling when it was young and operated a cafe until the last four years of his life. With his passing Ringling lost a citizen of sterling worth, a good neighbor and loyal friend. He joined the Baptist church when a young man. - A simple funeral service in keeping with disposition, was conducted at his home March 1st, by Rev. J. W. Oden, pastor of the Ringling Methodist church. Interment was in the I. 0. 0. F. Ringling Cemetery.
