The Nebraska Signal (Geneva, NE), March 1948 Walter Creston Swails was born at Geneva, Neb., September 10, 1897, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Swails. He died suddenly at Geneva, Neb., Tuesday, March 23, 1948, following a heart attack. He had been in poor health a number of years. He spent his boyhood days in Geneva and attended the Geneva school. He later moved to Clay Center, where he went into business. He was married in June, 1929, to Miss Velma Roby of Nelson. To this union was born a daughter. Mrs. Swails and daughter both passed away August 20, 1930. After selling his business in Clay Center, Mr. Swails moved back to Geneva. He was employed a number of years at the Picard Pharmacy. When the Fairmont Army Airfield was activated, he began work there and remained until the base closed. He then opened the Newmarket Grocery in Geneva and had built up a fine business. Mr. Swails was a member of the Christian Church. He was kind and sympathetic and his many friends regret his untimely departure. He is survived by two brothers, L. O. and Golie Swails of Geneva; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, Rev. Isaac Cassel officiating.
