Bio

Marlene June DePas, 71, went to be with Jesus April 4, 2007. She was preceded by her husband “Herbie” DePas, son Mark Allen Daffin, her grandson Hudson Anglin, and her three brothers, Tommy, Donny, and Johnny Becker. Marlene is survived by her son Paul DePas, daughter Patricia (Arnold) Anglin; four grandchildren, Christine (Michael Denney, Myra (James) Peters, Cheryl (Reg) Simmons and Keelin DePas; and her five great grandchildren, Zachary, Brooklyn & Reece Denney, and Madyson & Skylar Peters; her half-sister Sharon-Kay Lewis and half-brother David Cole Lewis, who reside in Texas. Marlene was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and made a big move out to Mesa, Arizona in 1964 with her two children. After obtaining her GED she moved on to complete her goal as a nursing student at Mesa Community College in her late 30’s. Her family was so proud of her! Her hard work and determination paid off. She served at Maricopa County Hospital and Chandler Reginal Hospital for 15 years as a RN before medical problems forced her to retire. Just a few years after moving to Arizona she met Herbert DePas and was married in 1966. Marlene and Herbert enjoyed golfing together and were married for 33 years. Marlene also enjoyed painting and embroidery in her spare time until she was physically no longer able to and usually gave them away as beautiful gifts. She also loved to read and really enjoyed spending the afternoon with her daughter at the movies. Marlene’s presence will be missed here on Earth but her family is rejoicing with her today as she is resting well and in the presence and comfort of the Lord. The services for Marlene will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale. The viewing will begin at 1pm with the service immediately following at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hand Of Hope, a cancer support organization, that has been a tremendous support to Marlene’s granddaughter Keelin, who is a cancer survivor.
