Bio
Arlene was born in David City, NE on July 20, 1936 to Joseph Polak and Mary Pavel. Raised in west Denver, she graduated from St. Joseph's in 1954 and worked as a clerk typist before marrying. As a young woman, thanks in part to her Czechoslovakian family roots, she enjoyed polka dancing and socializing with her friends at potlucks. She loved many family pets throughout her life and always had a gentle hand with animals. As a mother, she was always there for her children, involved in their lives and guiding them with faith and loving care. Arlene loved Colorado, enjoying many fishing and sight-seeing trips to the Rocky Mountains. Devoted to her Catholic faith, family and friends could always count of her loving prayers. In her retirement years she enjoyed reading, favorite card and word puzzles, game shows, visits with her children, cousins and friends and any time shared with her grand-daughter was especially precious. In addition to her beloved husband Neil, she is survived and will be dearly missed by many loving family and friends: Her son, Michael Dittmer (Highlands Ranch, CO), daughter Monica Dittmer (Winston-Salem, NC), son Andrew Dittmer (Highlands Ranch, CO), daughter Denise (Dittmer) Dawson (Phoenix, AX), grand-daughter Adriana Dawson (AZ), brother Bernard Polak (Alpharetta, GA), sons-in-law Todd Dawson and Tracy McCrary, sisters-in-law Corinne Polak, Dottie Polak, Rose Dittmer, Genevieve Hofsetz, Joy Dittmer, brothers-in-law Wayne Dittmer, Bill Heine and John O'Hearn, best friend Chery Stock and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Damien, and daughter Diane, her brother Deacon Leonard Polak, sisters-in-law Sherry Polak, Joan Heine, and Carol Dittmer, and brothers-in-law Edwin Dittmer and James Hofsetz. Her family thanks everyone for their prayers and trusts in God's bountiful reward for her in Heaven.
