Martin Juzek Answers Call Former Salesman and Grocer Expires Age of 77 Martin Juzek, sr., 77, a resident of Sioux City for the last 65 years, died Wednesday morning in the home of his son, Martin, jr., at 3126 Myrtle street, following an extended sickness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Nelson-Berger chapel. Rev. Nelson A. Price, pastor of Whitfield Methodist church will officiate. Members of Landmark lodge 103 A.F. & A.M. will conduct services at the grave in Graceland park cemetery. Mr. Juzek, was born January 11, 1863, in Prague, Bohemia. He came to the United States and directly to Sioux City in 1875. For 40 years Mr. Juzek owned and operated a grocery store on the west side. Part of that time he traveled for the C. Shenkburg Wholesale Grocer company and was working for it’s successor, the O. J. Moore Grocer company, when he retired 10 years ago. From the time Mr. Juzek arrived in Sioux City he was a member of the volunteer fire department until it was dissolved in favor of a paid department. He was a member of Landmark lodge and the Sioux City consistory. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Reimers of Cheyenne, and Mrs. G. A. Olin of Van Nuys, Cal.; two sons, George L. and Martin, jr., both of Sioux City; two brothers, John of Sioux City and Charles of Hinton; one half brother, James Kovarna of Sioux City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
