LARRY SIDNEY STAVINOHA, age 70 of Manvel, Texas passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas. Larry was born January 22, 1949 in Houston and was a resident of Manvel for over 45 years. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel. Larry was the oldest grandson of Edmund and Viola Stavinoha, both deceased, of Ammansville, Texas. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mary Stavinoha; sister, Jeannie Leavings; granddaughter, Sydney Stavinoha. Larry attended Catholic school at St. Peter’s and St. Thomas in Houston before graduating from Madison High School. After managing grocery stores for a few years, Larry became a salesman for the rest of his career which was his calling. He was also associated with the Knights of Columbus of Alvin/Manvel and the men’s club at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His true love was his family and friends and the outdoors. If he was not entertaining the neighbors in his garage, he enjoyed spending time in Fayette County where his family originally settled from Czechoslovakia/Moravia. Larry loved to hunt, fish, BBQ, tell stories, or just be around friends and family. He also enjoyed a good Polka band, cold beer, and occasional cigar. Larry loved people in general and in addition to his family, had a positive impact on the many people he interacted with. After retiring, Larry enjoyed his frequent phone calls to family and friends. On any given evening he could be found watching his favorite Westerns with his loving wife Carol. Larry is survived by his wife, Carol Stavinoha; son, John Stavinoha and wife Nicole; daughter, Elizabeth Oliva and husband Tony; sister, Patsy Skinner and husband Larry; brother, Rick Stavinoha and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Anthony Stavinoha, Natalie St. Laurent and husband Austin, Lexi Gagner and husband Zachary, Zachary Stavinoha; along with three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Zachary Stavinoha, Austin St. Laurent, Zachary Gagner, Stephen Stavinoha, Nick Stavinoha, Cameron Heger, Robert LaBeth, Travis Arlington Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Scott Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 19, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel with interment to follow in the Confederate Cemetery.
