Bio

Madelyn Jeanette (Staff) Novosad died peacefully at Fort Bend Healthcare Center on August 05, 2019. Madelyn was born on September 13, 1924, in Nada to the late Frank Paul and Mary Wesselski Staff. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold J. (Tubby); son Marty Novosad; brothers Joe Staff, Clement Staff, Daniel Staff, and Raymond Staff; sisters Anselma Staff, Tillie Janish, and Clara Kaspar, sisters-in-law Cecilia Staff and Betty Jo Staff; brothers-in-law Sylvester Kaspar, Jim Janish, and Dan Gabrysch. Madelyn attended Vox Populi School in Nada and graduated from Garwood High School in May, 1942. On September 25, 1945, she married Tubby Novosad after he had served in the Army Air Corps. They made their home in Ganado and raised their family of five. She was a loving homemaker, excellent cook, seamstress, and quilter. She gifted many beautiful quilts to her grandchildren and others. After celebrating their 40th anniversary, Tubby lost his battle with leukemia. Madelyn continued to live in Ganado and was active in the community. She was lovingly called Big Grandma by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Assumption Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Heritage Crafts Quilting Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, and Lutheran Domino Players. Her faith helped her through her struggles with losing her husband and son Marty, her battle with breast cancer, and other illnesses. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on August 08 with a wake service at 6:30 at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo. Visitation will also be held at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 on August 09 at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado with burial in the Assumption Cemetery.
