Elsie “Sarge” Irene Rege, 90, of Great Falls, MT, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2019 of natural causes at a local care facility. Elsie was born on March 2, 1929 in Rockford, IL to parents Gerald Hilterbrand and Mary Caster. She later moved to California and married Gerald Griffin. Together they had one son and one daughter. They later divorced and Elsie married Henry Eugene Cote’ with whom she had one son and one daughter. They too later divorced. In 1971, Sarge moved to Great Falls, MT where she met Joseph A. Rege. They later married on May 26, 1972. Together they adopted a daughter and lived happily for an amazing 29 years of marriage until his passing. All throughout Elsie’s life, she had the memorable catch-name, “horses’ ass”, that she so fondly used to describe most everyone. She was a loving mother and a very proud grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. Next to her children, she always noted that one of her greatest accomplishments was having lived to the age of 90. Elsie is survived in passing by her 2 sons; 3 daughters,; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph A. Rege, Gerald Griffin, Henry E. Cote’; son, Donald Eugene Rege, and two children in infancy. Complete obituary at Croxford Funeral Home
