Bio

Church service for Lula Burnett, 92, of Sudan, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Sudan Church of Christ, with Terry Wilson and Rex Boyles officiating. Burial will be in the Sudan Cemetery. Mrs. Burnett died Sunday, June 24, 2007, in the Lamb Healthcare Center in Littlefield. She was born March 28, 1915, in Clarita, Okla., to Robert L. and Mary Etta (Withrow) Gunn. She married Dail D. Burnett in Clovis, N.M. on Oct. 8, 1932. He preceded in her in death on Sept. 5, 1986. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta Burnett Reid on January 8, 2002. A son-in-law, Darwin; her parents; one sister, Zethel Bradshaw; and one brother, Hurshell Gunn also preceded her in death. Mrs. Burnett had lived in this area since 1930. She formerly lived in Whitharral and Anton before moving to Sudan Jan. 1, 1934. She was a faithful member of the Sudan Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and cooking for all of her friends and family. Survivors include two granddaughters, Suzanne Reid of Fort Worth and Jill Reid of Addison.
