Linda L. Schaer, 64, of Fremont passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Methodist Fremont Health. Linda was born Dec. 6, 1954, in Waynesville, Missouri, to Frank and Leona (Vidlak) Hanis. Linda was a graduate of Fremont High School in 1973. Linda began her 33-year employment with George A. Hormel on Feb. 2, 1977. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for over 25 years. As if she didn't have enough to do, Linda also worked part time in the jewelry department at J.C. Penny for a number of years. Linda's diagnosis with squamous cell carcinoma forced her into early retirement on April 23, 2010. Linda was a fighter, she was a 13-year cancer survivor. She beat the disease, but lost her fight due to the continuous effects of radiation. Linda married Tom Schaer on Aug. 3, 1985, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Linda is survived by her husband Tom of Fremont; son, Ryan (Tasha) Schaer of Fremont; parents, Frank and Leona Hanis of Fremont; and Linda was a special grandmother 'MOMO' of Angel, Leah, and Lexi. Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Jan Hallowell; and brother, Jeff Hanis. The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m., all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue Friday one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
