Bio
Lloyd Young Grubbs, 89, of Three Rivers, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. Mr. Grubbs was born June 5, 1928, in Beaumont to Dessi Fitz-Randolph McCall and Emmanuel Osborne Grubbs. He served in the Texas National Guard and U.S. Air Force. He married Virginia Shaw in Rosenberg on June 18, 1948. He was a resident of Three Rivers since 1985, retired after 38 years with Chanter Oil Co. and 24 years with Diamond Shamrock. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Three Rivers Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Grubbs of Three Rivers; a son, Floyd Russell Grubbs of Three Rivers; two daughters, Deborah Dee Shaw and Rebecca Lee Moore, both of Comfort; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Linda Hunter and Sandy West. Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers. Pallbearers will be Wayne Billings, Lonnie Merks, Seth Foster, Luke Hogan, Carl Lundquest, Tim Jambers, Nick Chavis and Jason Slagle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the food bank.
