She graduated from Utica High School in 1945. On November 27, 1946, Maxine was united in marriage to Edmund Daniel Plisek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. From this union came two sons, Carroll and Daniel. They made their home in Seward until moving to The Meadows Independent Living Facility in Norfolk, Nebraska in 2008. Following Edmund’s death, Maxine moved in to her grandson’s home in Norfolk for several years. Maxine baked pies and cakes for Dale’s Restaurant in Seward in the early 1960’s. In 1962, she began working in food service for the Seward School District and eventually became the school district’s Food Manager. She held this position for 25 years, retiring in the mid 1990’s. Maxine loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending family gatherings. She delighted many with her cooking and baking, especially caramel rolls and kolaches. She and Ed enjoyed dancing and taking annual trips to attend Ed’s WWII Navy Sea Bee reunions. Maxine passed away on June 26, 2019 in Utica, Nebraska at the age of 91 years 10 months and 30 days. She is survived by her sons, Rev. Carroll (Judy) Plisek, David City, Nebraska, Daniel (Lynne) Plisek, Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan (Kathy) Plisek, Norfolk, Nebraska, Craig Plisek, David City, Nebraska, Joel (Mary) Plisek, Garden City, Kansas, Brendan (Stephanie) Plisek, Omaha, Nebraska, David Plisek, Dubuque, Iowa; great grandchildren, Dominick, Abbigail, Ashlee, Alyssa, Colby, Ellie, Gabriel, Christopher, Ethan and Lillian; two cousins in Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Plisek; parents, Edward and Mabel Heers; sisters, Dorothy (Howard) Baack, Vivian Naber; brothers-in-law, Darrell Daehling, Ray Naber; great grandson, Dawson Plisek.
