SOUTHERN CHAMPAIGN COUNTY TODAY (Villa Grove, Illinois) - Wed - 3 Feb 1988 Funeral services for Marvin Orlandas Hackney, 82, of Tilton, formerly of Broadlands, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Kirby Funeral Home, Broadlands, Martin Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, south of Broadlands. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 26, at the funeral home. Mr. Hackney died at 8 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 24, 1988) at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Newman. He was born July 1, 1905, at Martinsville, a son of William and Filetta Melton Hackney. He married Alice Orndorff on Aug. 4, 1928, at Paris. She survives at Continental Manor Nursing Home. Also surviving are five daughters, Marjorie Elston of Gary, IN, Doris Howie of Tilton, Norma Zimmerman of St. Matthews, S.C., Wanda Westfall of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Charlotte Peddycoart of Urbana; two sons, Harley Hackney of Decatur and David Hackney of Danville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two grandchildren. Mr. Hackney attended Palermo Baptist Church, Palermo. He was a farm worker in the Broadlands area.
