Gertrude Mentlewski, 87, of Anderson died Tuesday morning, June 18, 2019 at Grace Personal Care Home in Spring. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be 10:00 am Friday, June 21, 2019 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1511 Hwy. 90 S in Anderson with Rev. Elias Lopez as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery. Gertrude was born June 4, 1932 in Anderson to Charlie and Sallie Shibest Mentlewski. She grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School. Gertrude attended business school and had a long career as an executive assistant with Shell Oil in Houston. Shortly after her retirement in 1997 she returned to Anderson. She enjoyed her flower gardens, her trips to the casinos as well as traveling to small towns "window shopping" for antiques. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and extended family. Gertrude was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Gertrude was preceded in death by brothers, Arch, John and Troy Mentlewski; and a sister, Martha Sechelski; as well as her parents. Survivors include her brother, Charlie Mentlewski, Jr. of Anderson; nieces and nephews, Elaine Welch and husband, Jim, Charlie Mentlewski, Brenda Nesbit and husband, Brad, Carolyn Yorek, Anne Mentlewski and Jeffrey Mentlewski; and wife, Shetal; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and other relatives.
