Cairo (Nebraska) Record; Friday, 28 January 1955, page 1 Mrs. Gus Meyer dies Mrs. Edna Meyer, wife of Gustav Meyer and a former farm resident of the St. Michael community, died Wednesday noon in a Grand Island Hospital, following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Meyer had been critically ill the last 23 days. The family home is at 1923 West Third Street, Grand Island. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Livingston-Sundermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nordine conducted the service. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. . . Mrs. Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Urwiller, was born on a farm in Nemaha County near Peru, Nebr. When she was a child the Urwiller family moved to the St. Michael community and settled on a farm. She and Gustav Meyer were married in Grand Island on March 16, 1915. They began their home on a farm near St. Michael and resided in that community until moving to Grand Island in 1936. Since moving to Grand Island, Mr. Meyer has continued to operate the farm. During her residence on the farm, Mrs. Meyer had been active in the Community Church which was nearby. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Paul Helzer, Grand Island; two granddaughters, Vonda and Loma Helzer; three brothers, Ralph Urwiller, Shelton; Floyd Urwiller, Nevada, Mo.; and Norton Urwiller, Ravenna; and five sisters, Mrs. Ed Dunkin, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Hobart Cornelius, Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Mrs. Jack Mendyk, Hammett, Idaho; and Mrs. Ralph Hughes and Mrs. John Becker, both of Ravenna. Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Perry Urwiller; and one sister, Miss Hazel Urwiller. . . The services were unusually well attended. Present from out of town. . .
