Hays, Sr. dies this same year. 1843 - Eleanor Mourning "Ellen" Hays, age 19, marries William "Buck" Chandler, age 25. 1850 U.S. Census (Oct.) Residence: Louisiana, Claiborne Parish, Township 19 Ward 5 Morning Chandler ( age 26 ) Place of Birth - Tennessee Leanora Chandler ( age 6) Place of Birth - Louisiana Charly Chandler ( age 1) Place of Birth - Louisiana The information in this census supports the date of husband's death being prior to Oct., 1850. 1851 - Ellen marries again. She marries Stokey D. Hay(e)s on September 3, 1851. To this marriage is born two children: Emily Ellen Mourning Hays, b. 1853 Claiborne Parish, LA Samuel Jackson Hays, b. 1855 Claiborne Parish, LA 1855 - Ellen dies the same year she gives birth to her last child; there may be a connection between these two events. 1864 - December, Ellen's mother Mourning Hays dies, age 84, Athens, Claiborne Parish, LA.
