Bio

Wonda F. Akin, age 73, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019. She was on born January 1, 1946, in Bonnerdale, the daughter of John D. Tackett and Lennie Collier Tackett. She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Akin in 2002; her parents; two brothers, Gene Tackett and John Earl Tackett; two sisters, Bennie Fay Dooley and Juanita Palfreeman; four nephews, Johnny Tackett, David Tackett, Tommy Garner and John Stuart; and one niece, Denise Brock. Wonda was a Christian and attended Faith Point Community Church. She wrote gospel songs and loved to sing and serve the homeless. She was an avid gardener and her love and infectious smile will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Robert James Akin of Hot Springs; her daughter and son-in-law, April and James Jordan of Longview, Texas; two grandchildren, Amber Goodson and her husband, Mark, of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana and Julianna Gordan of Longview, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Gideon Ratcliff and Eden Miles; one brother and sister-in-law, Ardy and Sally Tackett of Hot Springs; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Bonnie and David Gardner of Hot Springs, Barbara Stuart of Perryville, Mattie Kim of Hot Springs, Mary Taylor of Palm Springs California, and Virginia Rogner of El Paso, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019, in the Faith Point Community Church, Hot Springs with Bro. Ronnie Vanderslice and Bro. Wayne French officiating. Interment will be in the Morning Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be Dennis Akin, James Jordan, Kyle Russell, Todd Wynn, Brent Wynn, and Ronnie Blue. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. Tommy Thompson, Michael Gardner, Ricky Tackett, Randy Gardner, Andy Tackett, and David Gardner. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
