Harold James “Jim” Sonnenberg, 77, of Waxahachie passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in Waxahachie. Jim was born Sept. 5, 1935, to LD and Hattie Huse Sonnenberg in Bynum Texas. He attended Bynum schools and grew up farming. He worked for Sears Corp. for 35 years in mid-management over their automotive department. He was involved with Ellis County Habitat for Humanity and was an active member of St. Paul ’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing golf and RVing. He was known as Papa Jim and Papa to his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Murlene Johnson Sonnenberg; Brother, Alvis Lee Sonnenberg; and stepdaughter, Kellie Rominger. He is survived by his wife, Glenna Biggs Sonnenberg; son, Glenn Sonnenberg and wife, Sarah of Woodland Park, Colo.; granddaughters: Evan Sonnenberg of Saudi Arabia and Kristi Sekelsky and husband, Sean of Germany; great-grandson, Jameson; son, Mike Sonnenberg and wife, Dawn of Rowlett, Texas and granddaughter Ashley Sonnenberg of Denver, Colo. and grandson, Tanner Sonnenberg of Rowlett, Texas.; daughter, Kelley Sonnenberg Story and husband Terry of Waxahachie; granddaughter, Aundra Story of Waxahachie and grandson, Ryan Story of Waxahachie; stepson, Chris Rominger and wife, Susan of Waxahachie; granddaughters, Kaily Ellis of Dallas, Sarah Jo Rominger of Waxahachie and Laurel Rominger of Waxahachie; stepdaughter, Jill Rominger of Waxahachie and granddaughter, Kelsey Poynor; sister, Gwenda R. Carter of Tyler, Texas; nephew, Ricky; and niece, Donna; and many cousins. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie with Father Jerry Hill officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the home of Chris and Susan Rominger. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to St Paul ’s Episcopal Church in his name. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
