Obituary for Mrs. Wanda Monroe Mrs. Wanda Monroe, 80, of Henderson, passed from this life on August 19, 2018, at her residence. She was born February 12, 1938, in Ennis to the late Alva Birchett and Emilie (Zajdl) Cockerham and before moving to Henderson was a long time resident of Longview. Before retirement she was an executive assistant for Cellxion of Bossier City. In her spare time, Wanda was a wonderful gourmet cook and loved to travel, and she attended First United Methodist Church of Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-son, Max Monroe. Survivors include: husband, Orville Monroe of Henderson; daughter, Cyndi Batten and husband LaMoyne of Shreveport and their children Rachel Hollingsworth and husband Spencer, and Jered Batten and wife Courtney; daughter, Kathy Dressel and companion Ty Cobb of Lafayette and her children Jason Doerle and fiancé Paige Cherry, and Alison Doerle; brother Ron Cockerham and wife Gloria of Dallas; step-daughter, Theresa Monroe and her children Jessica Stout and fiancé Blake Watson and Jessica’s daughter Lucy Stout, and Chris Stout and fiancé Melissa Childs and his daughter Harper Stout; step-grandson, Dustin Monroe and wife Emily and their children Jocyln Monroe and Max Monroe. Funeral services for Mrs. Monroe were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Hunt officiating. Interment followed at Rosedale Memorial Chapel in Ada, Oklahoma, under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to all the awesome caregivers over the years for their loving and tender care of Wanda.
