GREELEY — Dennis “Hopper” Racicky, 66, of Greeley passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at VA Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with The Rev. Tom Ryan officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service time. Dennis was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Spalding to Don and Irene (Gray) Racicky. He grew up in Greeley and graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1970. After high school, Dennis joined the U.S. Navy on Feb. 26, 1974, during this time he earned the National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1978. After the Navy Dennis went on to work for Grover’s Bar as owner and operator, and later worked for the Greeley County Roads Department. He was a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. He loved coaching his son and other kids in baseball, hunting and fishing, especially on the Cedar River. Dennis was a proud Notre Dame fan and never missed the annual Notre Dame-Navy game. Dennis is survived by son, Riley and Katie Racicky; sister, Mary Beth and Bob Zahm; and nephews, Cole and Trey Zahm. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Antone and Maude Racicky, James and Catherine Gray; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
