Actress. Stage name Daye Dawn. Doreen Marjorie Hughes was born in Karachi, Bombay, India, the daughter of Frank John Hughes and May Bayliss. Doreen Hughes married Eugene Joseph Weiner, son of Leopold Weiner and Helen Rosenberg, on 16 Dec 1927 in Manhattan, New York. Together they had one son, Eugene, Jr. They divorced following a highly publicized legal battle and custody dispute. Eugene later remarried the well-known actress Lillian Roth in 1940. Doreen married second to William Frank Holifield in late 1934. Together they had daughter Virginia in Los Angeles in 1935. Virginia died of measles at age 8 and is buried in Amarillo, Texas along with her father.
