Virgie Mae Gann age 97 of Meridian, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at a Clifton care facility with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Rev. Richard Creech will officiate. Burial will be in the Meridian Cemetery. She will lie in state from 8 A.M. until 4 P.M., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cody Kelley, Stephen Gann, Joey Gann, Demetrik Davenport, Trenton Kelley, Hunter Fowler, Clint Johns, and Austin Gann. Virgie Mae Bass was born on December 23, 1921 in Kopperl, Texas to Jodie Palmer and Myrtle Duvall Bass. She was raised and educated in Kopperl. She married J.W. Gann, Sr., on May 6, 1938, in Meridian, Texas. The couple moved to Waco after getting married. Virgie and J.W. moved back to Meridian in 1943. Virgie will be truly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Shirley Thompson of Gatesville, Mary Jo Ratliff of Cleburne, J.W. Gann, Jr. and wife, Paula, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Rachel Bean and husband, Rudy, of Clifton, Kathey Pollard and husband, Clyde, of Meridian; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Patrisha "Tish" Gann of Hewitt; numerous other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Myrtle Bass; husband, J.W. Gann, Sr.; brothers, Virgil and J.M. Bass; and son, Milton Gann. Arrangements were made by Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas.
