Bio

Coeburn, Virginia April 24, 2019 Our Sweet mother, Lorene Holbrook Grimes McConnell, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the age of 90 at the Heritage Hall Health Care Big Stone Gap, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Grimes; her father, Henry Holbrook; her mother, Alvertia Stapleton Holbrook; her brothers, Richard Holbrook, Delmer Holbrook and Lois Holbrook; her sisters, Ava Burton, Bessy Joran, Etta Jordan and Orpha Yakaboski. She loved her family and worked hard to provide for them. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy. She was a Christian and attended Midway Church in Coeburn before her health prevented her from attending. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Frank) Meade of St. Paul, VA. and her son, Mike (Patricia) Grimes of Coeburn, VA., a sister, Jeanette James of Sandusky, Ohio. She had five grandchildren, Nikki (Brian) Vance, Amy (Bryan) Lalonde, Robbie (Kristi) Meade, Brandon Grimes and Cody Grimes; also, three great-grandchildren, Amelia and Abby Lalonde and Aiden Willis as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends Friday, April 26, 2019 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Services will follow at 7 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Carrol Childress and Brother Les Ritchie officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted 11 A.M. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, VA.
