Bio
Georganne Marty, 85, of Champaign died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at C-U Rehab Center, Savoy. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, Champaign, Rev. Matt Matthews will officiate. Burial will be in Prairieview Cemetery, Savoy at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy. Georganne was born on November 16, 1933 in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of George and Fannie Spurling. She married Victor G. Marty on June 16, 1957 in Moberly, Mo; he died on August 18, 2011. Survivors include two sons; Neil Marty of St. Joseph and Philip S. Marty of Champaign and one grandson; Kip Marty of Champaign. Georganne graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master’s degree in Journalism. She retired as Public Relations Manager for the Assembly Hall. Georganne was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Champaign. She was also the National Chairperson for the D.A.R., a member of the Colonial Dames of America, National Pen Women and a voting judge.
