George M. Zavodny, 66 of Weston, NE, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo, NE after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1952 in Lincoln, NE to George and Delores (Anderley) Zavodny. He attended York High School and later received an associate degree in welding. On September 4, 1969, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged September 3, 1971. George married Shelia Koerner June 5, 1982 at Pioneers Park in Lincoln. He worked as a clerk for U.S. Postal Service before his retirement. George was Master Mason with Wahoo Lodge #59 AF & AM Masonic Lodge, member of American Legion #308 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter #7. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, leatherwork and black powder rendezvous. George is survived by his wife, Sheila Zavodny of Weston; children, Michael Shane (Christal) Zavodny of Kansas City, MO, Kerry Ann Sommer of New Hampshire, Georgia Niki (Barry) Potts of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Michaela, Kylie, Austin, Ethan, Seth and Sydney; mother, Delores Zavodny; brother, Alan (Sue) Zavodny; sister, Linda Wyzard; nephews, Justin Zavodny and Devon Lind. He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Zavodny.
