Bobby Joe Smith March 16, 1933 - April 08, 2019 A celebration of Bobby Joe Smith’s life, age 86 of Jasper, will be 11:00am on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with burial to follow in Antioch Cemetery near San Augustine. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the funeral home. Bobby Joe died April 8, at Chi St. Luke’s Health in Lufkin. Born in San Augustine, Texas, Bobby Joe was a longtime resident of Jasper. He was a heavy equipment operator for Matthews Construction of Jasper, where he retired in 1998 with over 30 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bobby Joe is survived by his son, Ronnie Joe Smith & wife Debra Kay of Gary, Texas; daughters, Doris Morton and Anna Rustin & husband Jimmie, all of Nacogdoches, Texas; step-son, Roddy McCoy & wife Mary Jane of Jasper, Texas; special daughters, Selena Smith and Skylar Smith, both of Jasper; brother, Roy Smith & wife Yvonne of Jasper; sister, Gladys Gallaway of San Augustine, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Pink and Susie Smith; wife, Gladys Smith; sisters, Hazel Rash and Atrail Ford; brothers, J.W. Smith and Donald Smith; and step-daughters, Barbara DuBose and Wendy Stanfield. Memorials made be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Married Annie Mae Lee in San Augustine Texas on July 4, 1959.
