Joyce B. Rasmussen, 78, of Grand Island died Friday, April 5, 2019. Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Grandview Apartments. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Joyce was born Jan. 24, 1941, in rural Hall County to Adeline (Long) and Carl Pape. She was raised on a family farm near Doniphan. She loved the farm life, raising several prize-winning cattle for 4-H. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1959, then attended beauty school. On Sept. 16, 1961, she was united in marriage to Paul Rasmussen in Grand Island. They were blessed with three children, Karla, Janelle and Ryan. Through the course of their marriage they lived in many states, including Minnesota, Washington, Colorado and Oregon. Joyce and her children moved back to Nebraska as she cared for her parents until their passing. Joyce never knew a stranger and always had time to listen. She never held a grudge and loved to hear the latest news and family history. She enjoyed birds, gardens, all plants of any shape and size, and Nebraska football. Most of all, she loved time spent with family and friends. Joyce could often be found cruising in her blue Cadillac. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karla Rasmussen (Greg Powell) of Giltner, Janelle (Scott) McVicker of Grand Island and Ryan Rasmussen (Heather Richardson) of Phoenix, Ore.; grandchildren, Jovanne, Dory (Chris Sampson) of Omaha, Andrew McVicker of Kearney, Tera McVicker of Irvine, Calif., and Dylan Webb of Giltner; niece and nephew and their families; and many special friends at Grandview. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roger Pape; a grandson, Tyler; and her fur baby, Smokey Moose.
