Helen Julia Jurecek went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in Sealy, Texas. She was born on August 30, 1928, in Mixville, Texas to Louis, Sr. and Emilie Orsak Hajdik. She was the oldest of seven children and went to Mixville school. She married Henry Jurecek, on June 20, 1949 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and they were married for 54 years until his death in 2004. She was a housewife and later worked for Sealy ISD where she first became known for her baking skills. Helen’s cream cheese rolls were phenomenal and were popular items at charity auctions and family gatherings. She also loved to quilt every Monday with the Handmaids for the Lord. She was a member of the KJZT and Altar Society. She is survived by sisters, Clara Kubena and Sister Carola Hajdik; brothers, Louis, Jr. and Barbara Hajdik, Bernard and Vivian Hajdik, and Eugene and Mary Hajdik, three daughters, Susanne Marie Shupak, Kathleen Jane Baker and Cynthia Ann and, husband, Steve Cobb; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Shupak, Luke and Victoria Shupak, Christopher Baker, Sarah and William Browne, and Hillary Cobb; 4 great-grandchildren, Kyndall Shupak, Darren Baker, Wyatt Summers, and Henry Shupak; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Jurecek; sister, Sister Marietta Hajdik; sister-in-law, Bernadette Svajda; and brother-in-law, Steve Kubena. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:00 pm at Knesek Family Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, March 28, at 10:00 am with Father Eric Pitre, celebrant, with burial following at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Wendt, Joey Schmidt, Steve Cobb, Steven Kubena, Luke Shupak, and William Browne.
