Bio
Adeline J. Ford, age 90, of Big Springs, passed away on March 6, 2019 at the Sedgwick County Memorial Nursing Home in Julesburg, CO. Adeline was born in Ogallala, NE to Joseph and Helen (Sibal) VanCura. She attended Elementary School to High School in Big Springs, NE where she met her husband, Richard L. Ford. They were married on September 29, 1946, at the United Methodist church in Big Springs and celebrated 39 years of marriage before Dick's death in 1985. She worked in Colorado for 35 years as the Office Manager for Chevrolet Dealerships. Adeline and her sister, Doris Haldeen, returned to Big Springs in 1993 and restored the Phelps Hotel, operating it as a bed and breakfast for a number of years. She was a volunteer at the Colorado Welcome Center in Julesburg, a Trustee of the Village Board in Big Springs, a member of the United Methodist Church, and a member of the Friendship Club. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Richard Ford, Jr.; 1 daughter, Charlene Hapke; and her parents. Adeline is survived by 2 daughters, DeAnna Ross, of Chandler, AZ; Dixie Kautz, of Colorado Springs, CO; 1 son, Randy Ford, of Cheyenne, WY; 1 sister, Doris Haldeen, of Ogallala; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is entrusted with arrangements.
