Bio

Wilbur Stavinoha passed away on March 16, 2019 at the age of 85 surrounded by family. He was born April 24, 1933 to Edwin and Annie Stavinoha. Wilbur was a United States veteran who served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956, and afterwards worked as a truck driver. He was hardworking, funny, and a family man that loved everyone unconditionally. He was a gentle giant who never met a stranger. Wilbur had a deep love for God, Jesus and the Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, and sharing his love of tools with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball and attending all his children’s and grandchildren’s sports and academic activities. Wilbur was a loving husband, father and PaPa who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Stavinoha, father Edwin Stavinoha, granddaughter Jennifer Sutton, brothers Eugene Stavinoha, Daniel Stavinoha, Edwin Stavinoha and sister Edna Shimek. Wilbur is survived by his wife Barbara Stavinoha, daughter Debbie Sutton(James), daughter Karen Bartrip(Keith), son Dennis Stavinoha(Marsi), daughter Paula Stavinoha, daughter Lisa Hill, grandchildren Jake Sutton(Peri), Brady Sutton, Michael Bartrip, Julie Jackson(Stephen), Kyle Hill(Courtney), and sister Maxine Sefcik. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jorge Romaguera, Dr. Hun Lee and the M.D. Anderson team. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 am at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Highlands, TX. Interment to follow in Sterling-White Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
