Bio

Barbara Allen White, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Stillwater Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1930 on a farm in Noble County to Orville and Ida (Madison) Swisher, the seventh of sixteen children. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Robert (Bob) White. She and Bob enjoyed many hours of fun and laughter with friends at the local Masonic Lodge. Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Social Order of the Beauceant in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church Stillwater, where she served in many ways. Barbara may be known best in the community by her many years working at Consumers IGA. Her joy and laughter could be heard throughout the store. She was also famous for her off-key “Happy Birthday Solos” on the Consumers loudspeaker to anyone entering the store on their birthday. To all of us, Barbara was simply Granny Bo, the joyful, loving center of our family. Granny Bo always had a smile, a hug, and a loving ear for all. Family was important to Granny Bo and she spent as much time with her family as she could. She especially loved spending time with her sisters. She will be remembered as a caring mother and loving grandmother, our “Granny Bo”. Members of her family include her two brothers, Ron Swisher and Ike Swisher; her sister Sally Brown; her three sons Mickey Wick, Danny Wick and wife Cheryl, and Randy Wick and wife Jill; her daughter Judy Hill and husband Scott; and her step-daughter Jodie Wetzel and husband Dan. Barbara also leaves behind ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25th at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends immediately following the services at a lunch provided by the church in the Fellowship Hall. Burial services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Barbara was truly a special person who was loved and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered as a bright shining light, full of laughter and love. An online obituary may be viewed, and messages of love and support may be sent to the family at www.StrodeFH.com.
