The Daily Telegram , March 6, 1969 BURRUSS-- Melvin E. Burruss dies in hospital; funeral Saturday Melvin E. Burruss, 63, of 2664 Kummer drive, died Wednesday in Behlen Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the McKown Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lowell Jones officiating. Burial will be in Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until 1:30 p.m. Saturday when the casket will be closed. Melvin Edwin Burruss was born Jan. 7, 1906 at Silver Creek, the son of Thomas and Susan Campain Burruss. He lived in the Silver Creek and Clarks vicinities until moving to Columbus in 1958. Here he was associated with the city water department, and had served as plumbing inspector for the city. He attended United Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Meyer, whom he married in Columbus, May 23, 1928; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Nyffeler of Columbus; son, Dale E. of Omaha; and four grandchildren, Carol, Mike, Lynne and Warren Nyffeler. Other survivors include his brother, Hubert M. of Clarks; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hinkle of Ravenna and Mrs. John Jacobi of Spalding. His parents preeded him in death. Thanks to contributor #47552612; Funeral Services for Melvin E. Burress, 63, were held at the McKown Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lowell Jones officiated and burial was in the Columbus Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Olk, Robert Aerni, Norman and Walter Kiuntke, and Robert R. Alshouse. Relatives and friends attended from Omaha, Council Bluffs and Bedford, IA., Clarks, Spalding, Millard, Lincoln, Genoa, Silver Creek, Shelby, Osceola, Bellwood, Duncan and Columbus. Tuck
