Helen Prachyl Slovak, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Legend Oaks Nursing Home in Ennis. Burial will be at St. Josephs Cemetery. Helen was born on April 17, 1936, in Boyce, Texas, to the late Leopold "Leo" and Julia (Vrana) Prachyl. On April 27, 1954, she married Raymond Slovak. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJZT and Golden Crusaders. Helen loved cooking, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing card games and dominoes. Most of all, Helen loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Raymond Slovak in August of 2012; granddaughters, Rachel Slovak and Meagan Slovak Gould; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Zhanel; brother, Anthony Prachyl; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Frank Taraba; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Jean Prachyl. Survivors include her sons, James Slovak and his wife, Theresa, Gregory Slovak and his wife, Susan, Kevin Slovak and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Derek Slovak and his wife, Kelley, Lindsay Varley and her husband, Brendan, Kacie Zhanel and her husband, Brian, Morgan Hickerson and her husband, Corey, Kyle Slovak and his wife, Leslie; grandson-in-law, Jason Gould; great-grandchildren: Gracie and Reese Zhanel, Jaxon and Reagan Gould, Emily, Ally, and Taylor Varley, Connor and Carter Slovak, Brighton and Channing Hickerson, and Riley Slovak; sister, Julie Smid and her husband, Wesley; sister-in-law, Mary Prachyl; other relatives and many friends.
