The Enterprise White Salmon, WA August 8, 1930 WELL KNOWN APPLETON WOMAN PASSES AWAY Mrs. Elva Marie Grubb, nee Phelps, was born in Minneapolis, Minn., Aug. 19, 1893. While still a child she moved from there with her parents to North Dakota and attended the schools of Minot. The family later moved to Helena, Montana, where she united with the Presbyterian church in which she has maintained her membership until her death. After graduating from school, Mrs. Grubb taught for a year in the schools of that state and the following year assumed a teaching position in the schools of St. Helens, Ore. It was while a resident of that city that she was married to Mr. O.W. Grubb. To this union eight children were born -- five girls and three sons, the oldest now sixteen years of age and the youngest four years. All of these survive the mother, save one. About 15 years ago the family moved to this vicinity, locating first near the Cox mill. Later, for some years, they lived near Snowden. She died Saturday, August 2nd, being in her 37th year. She leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Mrs. Elmer Phelps, of North Dakota, her widower, W.O. Grubb of Appleton, 4 daughters, Elva Gale, Evelyn Marie, Mary and Elizabeth Louise; three sons, William Wayne, John Harrison and Robert Lee, all of Appleton; besides one sister and three brothers and a host of friends.
