Janice E. Smith age 81, of Fremont Died Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Methodist Fremont Health Janice was born March 5, 1938 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Lloyd and Effie ‘Foust’ Hoops. She was raised in the Webster area and graduated from Scribner High School in 1955. After high school she was a nanny until she married Robert Smith on November 4, 1956. After her marriage Janice worked as a nurses aid at the Dodge County Hospital Annex (now Dunklau Gardens). The couple moved to Valley for a short time then back to Fremont. Janice continued to work at the hospital. She eventually began working at the Fremont Care Center (now Nye Pointe) and worked there for several years in the dietary department before finishing her career there as the Laundry Supervisor. After she retired she did in home day care. Survivors: Husband – Bob of Fremont Sons – Rick (Melinda) Smith of Evans, CO. Mike Smith of Fremont Daughters – Lisa (Joe) Bussen of Fremont Loree (Steve) Tancona of Freehold, NJ. Grandchildren – Patrick(Erin) Bussen, Andy (Kassie) Bussen, Robbie (Holly) Bussen, Autumn Smith, Jessica Smith, Robbie Smith, Rikki Smith, Gabriella (Sebastian) Tancona, Steven Tancona Great Grandchildren – Tristin & Addison Bussen, Landyn & Jaylei Bussen, Nova Motz, Zoe & Orion Sapp Kaleb Quinton and Bella Herrera Brothers and Sisters – Bill Wehrman, Harlan & Jan Hoops, Bob & Nancy Hoops, Milton & Cathy Hoops, Dan & Glenna Hoops, JoAnn & Charles Devine, Elna & Bill Lippencott, Dianne & Rich Vyhlidal Lois & Stan Vachal, Carolyn & Ed Vyhlidal, Marilyn & Ken Hassler Many nieces and nephews Janice was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lorna Wehrman and step-daughter Bobette Lucey. Visitation, Thursday 3 pm to 7 pm with the family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at Church of the Nazarene (960 Johnson Road, Fremont). Funeral service will be Friday 11:30am at the church.
