Bio

Anna Kristina Hejl, 93, of Taylor, died at the SPJST nursing home, Thursday, November 6, 2003. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Taylor Brethren Church with Pastor James Hejl officiating. Burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Ann Kristina Hejl was born January 25, 1910, in Granger, Texas to Joseph and Anna Simcik Huser. A life-long resident of Taylor, Ann helped out on the farm by chopping and picking cotton. As an adult, Ann sold SPJST insurance as well as being employed as a sales clerk at Wehby's Department store, Salms Fabric Shop, and World of Fabrics. She also worked at Hejl's Grocery Store and Mode O' Day Clothing Store. Ann married Willie Hejl on April 17, 1928 in Taylor. She was a great homemaker, wife, and mother. Her family considered her to be a great cook with specialties being home made dill pickles, kolaches, ice cream and cabbage rolls. Ann also made quilts for her family. She was a great neighbor to everyone. She loved watching football and baseball. Ann was a member of the Taylor Brethren Church and never missed attending. She also was a member of SPJST and the Taylor Brethren Christian Sisters. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Willie, in 1972; a brother, Joe Huser; and a granddaughter, Lori Ann Greenlees. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church. Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Ann Lang and husband, John David of Austin; son, Ted Hejl and wife, Kay of Taylor; niece, Esther Tegge of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Gene Greenlees and wife, Wendy, Ellen Ashley Sterin and husband, Steve, Jennifer Ann George and husband, Michael, Alice Kristina Hejl, Leanna Kathryn Lang, and Laura Kristina Lang; great-grandchildren, Ashley Sterin, Charles William George and Kathryn Elizabeth Sterin; great-nephews, David and Russel Tegge.
