Clifford Allen Welch, 88 Duncan Banner, The (OK) - Saturday, December 28, 2013 DUNCAN ? Clifford Allen Welch, 88, of Duncan passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Country Club Care. Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Fairlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Clifford was born July 21, 1925, at Mountain Home, Ark. to Thomas and Elizabeth (Fortune) Welch. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. New Orleans. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with Ten Stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with Two Stars and the American Occupation Medal. Clifford retired from Southwestern Bell after 36 and a half years. He married Virginia Ann Fowler Dec. 24, 1952, in Ringling and she preceded him in death May 20, 2006. Survivors include two daughters Brenda Phipps and husband Allen of Duncan and Jolene Welch of Denver City, Texas; two brothers Joe Welch of West Tawakoni, Texas and Frank of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Clayton Phipps, Jake Phipps and wife Jamie, Courtney Khodabakhsh and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren Mayson, Bryson, Ansley and Cole. Clifford was preceded in death by his wife Ann; parents Thomas and Elizabeth Welch; a sister Tommie Davis and a brother Lewis Welch.
